Why Carbon Fiber?
-
Carbon Fiber is lightweight because of its carbon atoms which are very light, and of low density. This is why carbon fiber weighs much less than metals like steel or aluminum. When these fibers are combined with a resin to form a composite, the result is a material that’s stiffer and stronger than steel for its weight — but only a fraction as heavy.
-
Carbon fiber is strong because of how it’s made and how its structure works. Each carbon fiber is made of tightly bonded carbon atoms arranged in long, parallel chains, forming a crystalline structure that gives it exceptional tensile strength — meaning it can resist being pulled or stretched with very little deformation
-
Carbon fiber is stiff because each fiber is made of aligned carbon atoms bonded together in a strong, crystalline pattern called graphitic bonding. When many of these fibers are bundled and set in a rigid resin matrix, the composite locks the fibers in place, allowing them to share loads and maintain shape even under stress. This combination gives carbon fiber its exceptional stiffness, meaning it bends much less than metals or plastics under the same load.
-
Carbon fiber is durable because of its tightly bonded strands of carbon atoms that form long, crystalline chains. When these fibers are combined with a tough resin matrix, they create a composite material that resists wear, fatigue, and environmental damage extremely well.
